cannot locate old accounts

I installed gnucash 1.8.8 on a new hardrive and transfered the home directory 
files from the user account to the new home directory on the new harddrive.  
After I start gnucash on the new hardrive in the user account of the same 
name as on the old hardrive, it is blank as if I never entered any 
information.  Can someone direct me to a fix of this?
