Slow computer?  Limited memory?  piggy OS?

I recently bought an ASUS 1000HE (one of the larger EEEPCs), told the 
guy that sold it that I was planning to replace Windows by Linux, and he 
had a good laugh about users that actually try to run the Windows that 
came with it.

I don't know how the HP compares.
