I don't know any web stuff to document this (beyond the gnucash
documentation), but any decent accounting textbook will explain
double-entry accounting.  I borrowed my sister's high-school textbook,
which is quite fine.

The list gives a somewhat distorted impression as its been full of
discussion and flames on this issue.  There is plenty of other stuff
going on ATM, but because it's less controversial people are happy to
let the people involved get on with it.  Additionally, there are
*several* pieces of code that are about to be dropped into the CVS
tree that are waiting for the CVS maintainer to get back.
