I'd be happy to help update the requirements page. Can you provide
the URL for that thread? I don't see it in a quick look at the archives...

Sorry, I didn't mean to take a poor tone there. I do think it would
be real helpful to at least say that GnuCash 1.6 requires Gnome 1.4,
and I was just trying to point out a minimal change to the
requirements page that would help a lot of people.
