Hello gnucash developers:

I posted a bug report to gnumatic and am reiterating it here with a little
more detail - hopefully someone will be able to help. I moved from gnucash
1.4 (the Ximian binary on RH7.1) to ver. 1.6x from gnucash.org (the current
RH7.1 guile 1.4 binaries).

The app ran fine initially out of the box except for one minor problem. I
am using Ximian GNOME 1.4 and the guile-slib link that is provided with the
binaries (from Ximian) was screwy. I had to rebuild the link, and after
that, gnucash started fine. However, after my data conversion to the XML
format was done and gnucash was restarted I began to see problems.

In other words, I open my version 1.4 file, the druid runs to convert to XML
and asks about my various funds and how they should be adjusted (mine are
all type FUND except for the default currency). Fine. The conversion
occurs and a backup bin format file is also saved. Then I close the file.
If I try to reopen the XML file, gnucash errors out. If I exit gnucash and
restart, the app segfaults, apparently at the data load.

I would be willing to provide a copy of the data - either the converted XML
format which won't open or the bin format (it's for one of my kid's accounts
and is clean with only dollar figures - no account numbers or the like) if
that will help with diagnosing the problem.

Please let me know if you would like either or both of these files. It
would help my sanity to also know if someone can reproduce this problem on
the same platform (i586, Redhat 7.1, guile 1.4, Ximian GNOME 1.4).

Sincerely,

William F. Helke
