GnuCash 1.7.5 never displays

Actually, the binary package did NOT say I needed to upgrade the
packages.  That was part of the mystery.  It installed clean; g-wrap
1.3.2 and gnucash 1.7.5.  But NOTHING ever displayed.  That lead me to
go the other route of upgrading guile and Guppi which then did require
rebuilding the gnucash RPM.

When I tried that, I got the same results.  gnucash would start, but
never display a GUI.  Here is what I got when I ran gnucash --debug

The last line comes when I grow impatient and kill it a few minutes
later.  I next try the following:

    gnucash: [D] "non-option ""stuff/gnucash/gnucash.data"", assuming file"

Ditto on the wait, it is several minutes (yes, I checked the wall
clock to be sure I wasn't simply impatient).
