I think I better handle the sql backend; although Dave knows it pretty
well.  I don't think Bill has ever worked on it.

I can debug minor xml problems, but don't really know the incremental
parser at all; rob browning wrote that and is still probably the
pre-emminent expert.

That is, I think there should be a separeate category for each backend,
they are wildly different.  (the rpc and http backends are 'mothballed'
for now.)
