It might be handy, if you have the time, to try to work you conversion
into an 'Export' function, and submit a patch.  I know that several
people in the past have inquired about ways to export Gnucash data to
other functions (specifically QIF).  You may also wish to consult with
the Gnucash OFX developer and see if your routine could be used to
export OFX files as well.
