If you want to work on translations, then yes, you should be using the
gnucash-1_8-branch (but you would probably not need to "start over again" --
simply do a "cvs update -r gnucash-1_8-branch" in your local source
directory)

Well, if you didn't specify it, then yes, this was HEAD.

Not really. The split between HEAD and 1_8-branch occurred only recently (in
January IIRC). The difference is something like 20-30 messages. Negligible
compared to the size of our message catalog. Simply don't worry too much
about it, and keep up the good work :-)
