Reports - suggestion / question

suggestion:
How could we make report forms that can be closed and opened, so as not to be 
continuously visible on the left side of main interface?

question:
Where does gnucash store the info on reports?  When I attempt to move my 
directory containing data, and then re-open in different location, I lose all 
but the accounts listing.
