Absolutely gnucash2 only. You're dead right - libqof1 is not for the gnucash 
1.8 tree, not even the remotest chance and no matter how long G2 actually 
takes.

Sorry, now that gnucash HEAD CVS (which was 1.8) has become gnucash/trunk svn 
(which is gnucash2, G2), I tend to think only of G2.
