Problem with configure.in, AM_PATH_GWRAP and g-wrap 1.9

The problem boils down to the fact that nothing in g-wrap 1.9 defines
AM_PATH_GWRAP for use in configure.in.  People have mentioned that
they have no problems compiling the G2 branch of GnuCash with g-wrap
1.9 and GCC 4, so I'm a little confused.  I run into a problem with
autogen.sh when using g-wrap 1.9.  Does Fedora Core include some
additional compatibility code in g-wrap 1.9 that is not included in
Debian?
