What I am doing now, and I updated the wiki to reflect it, is to
1) only modify one chapter (or related things)
2) xmlto txt gnucash-guide.xml   (new version)
3) xmlto txt gnucash-guide.xml   (SVN version)
4) diff -u <new txt file> <SVN txt file>
or if simple things
svn diff > MyGuideDiff.diff

Working on Currencies myself. (apart from tinkering with the other chapters.)

Well, I for one really like to see the indentations.
and I think as well that this should be treated as a small "coding"
project and as such should adhere to certain coding style. Unfortunately I
did not find any text on how the xml raw text should look like, and could
also not find any tools in Linux for this. This was the easiest way I
could find to ensure they all look more or less the same.
Open for suggestions or comments for sure.
