Basically you're asking the question from the FAQ, "Why don't you
rewrite GnuCash in programming language xyz so that I can contribute
easily?", and/or the answer to your question is just the same
http://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/FAQ#Q:_Why_don.27t_you_rewrite_GnuCash_in_programming_language_xyz_so_that_I_can_contribute_easily.3F
Rewriting the more than 300,000 lines of GUI code will not happen.
Neither to wxwidgets, nor to (probably preferred) Qt. We have to stick
with what's there, and since gtk *is* available on our target system
plus MS Windows, we even have the cross-platform abilities that we needed.
Having said that, this is an open source project and you're free to do
with it or contribute what you want.
