No. I did:
sudo ./configure
sudo make
sudo make check
sudo checkinstall
I've attached the output config.log to this message.
Bizarrely, I had to use sudo otherwise the dreaded SLIB configure error
reared its ugly head.
In any case, it is a wonderful program that I am using to slowly get our
household finances under control.
