... except that the aqbanking.m4 macro isn't used anywhere, and
gwenhywfar.m4 would only be used if you autoreconf aqbanking.

The macro of aqbanking.m4 shows up in gnucash's configure.in, but only
as a fallback if the pkgconfig file aqbanking.pc couldn't be found,
which is not the case for the aqbanking versions >= 1.6.1. I'd rather
remove the aqbanking dir from ACLOCAL_FLAGS again.
