I've seen this too, though in my case I got *no* account tree page at
all, just a blank gnucash frame with the usual buttons and menus
across the top. I don't know why I expected it to open an accounts
tree tab, but I did. You should probvably file this as a wishlist bug,
or RFE so it doesn't get lost. 

The good news though... this means I got my wife out of quicken
(finally!) and we are a quicken-free household! woot!
