Sorry, I should have been clearer -- I just looked at the installed  
branch (/opt/gnucash-gda/...), and that looked like the newest version.

I usually do a rm -rf on the $PREFIX before I make install (and a make  
distclean before I build) so I don't run into this quite so often.  
(That "usually" part sometimes catches me.)

And since my trunk r17069 works with guile 1.6.7, it looks like the  
answer to my other question is "no".
