I'm not sure why you need color coding for Expense or Income, because
generally those are under the top-level Expense or Income accounts..
So you know that Expenses:Foo is an expense and Income:Bar is an income.

However being able to color-code would be a reasonable feature.  I
look forward to your patches!

What about it?  Did you have something specific you wanted to remind
us about reporting/charting?
