That was it:

    xoloki at xolotl:~$ sudo ln -s /usr/local/lib/libglade /usr/lib/

Now all the druids work fine.

Thanks for telling me about --logto=stderr.  At this point, I'm not even
sure how the druids ever worked before ;)
