Right path, but not available in GnuCash proper for the reasons Derek
mentions. (see details earlier in thread)

For now, you can get a patch from last month at
http://savannah.nongnu.org/projects/python-gnucash

configure with --enable-python-bindings

If you're using Ubuntu 8.04, you can install a pre-built GnuCash 2.2.5
with the python bindings through our apt repository
http://www.parit.ca/products/finance/apt-repository

We're still on this, its just been a slow haul due to other
distractions. My colleague Jeff is working on it. New patch coming soon.
