I've applied all three patches from you by now (README, HACKING, Makefile.am). 
For future patches I'd recommend sending in all changed files in one patch 
(as opposed to the three single patches you sent just now), similar to the 
output of "svn diff" at the top-level directory of your working copy.

But in any case this is a very good contribution - thanks a lot! I'll answer 
to your PDF plan in a second message.
