we use this scenario on our Persian software: on db side and all BLL of our
codes we used date as original DateTime objects so we can use db and
language date time functions.

Just when we want to display dates or calendar we convert it to Persian
calendar .

 

By attachment I send a simple C# code, it's a date convert class that
mojoportal ( http://www.mojoportal.com ) use for supporting Persian
Calendar.

 

Also as you say generic string is another good suggestion.

 

I think the main problem occurs when  you need a group by month in  SQL
because first days of our month and Gregorian calendar is not same.

 

I'm a c# programmer but if I can , I want to help on this issue.

I looked at the jalali calendar on Wikipedia
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iranian_calendar).  I don't know exactly what
calendar widgets are used, but the major question would be whether it
supports alternate month definitions (6 months of 31 days, followed by 5
months of 30 days, followed by 1 month of 29 or 30 days).  For the XML
backend, I don't know how or if date strings are interpreted.  For SQL
backends, dates are stored using mysql and postgresql TIMESTAMP columns, and
I don't know if they support alternate calendars.  If they don't, we could
use generic strings instead so that "20100230" (30th day of Gullan) has
meaning whereas February 30th doesn't.

In general, this might cause a complete rework of date handling at a very
basic level, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing.  I assume GDate doesn't
support alternate calendars.

Hello.

I'll consider your suggestion for rest of file.
By attachment I send second file contain 6% of file with fa_IR.po name. I
think fa_IR must be better choose than fa.

Also I want to is it possible to create local calendar for language? We need
jalali Calendar for Persian , if you guide me I can develop this Calendar.

thank you very much for you interest! I have already copied your first draft

into our SVN repository. I assume fa.po is the correct filename? Or fa_IR?

I recommend you should read into http://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Translation to

get an idea of how to continue with this task. In particular, I have two 
suggestions for you: First you should create a "glossary" first, which means

you create a translation of the 100 key words of gnucash for yourself first,

then continue with the actual translation afterwards in order to translate
the 
key words consistently throughout the program. As a second suggestion, you 
don't have to continue your work throughout the fa.po file from top to
bottom, 
but I propose you should start gnucash and have a look at all the english-
language strings you see, then translate specifically those strings that you

see, because this will let you see the progress much faster.

We provide nightly builds for windows on 
http://code.gnucash.org/builds/win32/trunk/ ; once a build with revision 
number r18558 or greater is there, it will already show up with your draft 
translation if started in fa_IR or fa locale settings. Otherwise, see

this on your own.
