Version references in documentation

As far as I know it hasn't been considered yet.

I think the idea was to have a set of documentation per release, but this 
didn't work out for 2.2.

I'm not sure what the best way to deal with this is.


P.S. I'm in holidays now, so I won't be following the list regularly for a 
couple of weeks.
