Font question for 2.4.0

Michele,

The major difference with Default.CSS is that it allows the fonts to be specified. To do this, use the Edit -> Stylesheets menu entry, select the stylesheet and click Edit. You can also create new stylesheets based on a current one (so you could create MyStyles from Default.CSS and set up the fonts you want). The fonts can be specified for different classes of text in the report (title, amounts, labels, account names), which sounds like exactly what you are looking for. The main problem with Default CSS is that the default fonts are hardwired. This doesn't work for people who want non-English fonts (e.g. Greek or Chinese). The Default stylesheet just uses whatever default fonts the report renderer decides to use, and they can't be changed (well, they probably could be setting the right font name in the right configuration file, but I don't know what file that is).

I suppose I should ask, when you say "too small", do you mean *really* small as in "I need a microscope to see them", or just "too small for comfortable viewing"? If it's the first (need a microscope), upgrade to a later version of 2.3.X because that problem is fixed.

I should also add, that if you are really a newbie, you probably shouldn't be using 2.3.X but should be using 2.2.9. 2.3.X are unstable development versions which are released to 1) let users see the new features, and 2) test them and report any problems so that they can be fixed. Eventually (I hope in a month or so), 2.3.X will be released as 2.4.0 for general use.

Hi,

As a newbie user I'd have to say I hope you don't just remove the Default
style-sheet or replace with Default.CSS. I am using GnuCash on Windows
Vista and if I use the Default.CSS style-sheet for my reports the accounts
all appear in a too-small Times New Roman font, whereas if I use Default it
appears in a properly sized *Segoe UI* font (Vista's sans-serif default).
I've changed all my reports to use Default for this reason.

Personally I'd like to choose a different font altogether for my reports
e.g. have H1 - H3 as Georgia and the body of the report Trebuchet MS. Also
preferably without having to change the complete appearance of Windows.
