status of "EURO support"

Hi,
I noticed that in the 2.2.9 C branch manual, there is described an
option to "enable EURO support". The actual 2.2.9 program does not
offer the option any more.
Looking at some code, I get the impression, that there is still code
dealing with this option.
It is not clear to me, what this "EURO support" exactly means, and
weather it is now generally enabled or disabled.
The EURO was introduced 10 years ago. I think at that time, the issue
was for a limited time the parallel use and display of both currencies
and then the conversion of the old currencies to EURO.
Since one of the purposes of the summary bar apparently seems to be to
display the essential sums of assets and profits in multiple currencies,
I wonder if the failure to show a 'Grand Total' could be related to the
EURO issue.
