I have both Fedora 19 and 20 and on each, when I try to build gnucash I get:

checking Boost >= 1.50.0... checking build system type...
x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu
  checking host system type... x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu
checking for boostlib >= 1.50.0... configure: We could not detect the
boost libraries (version 1.50 or higher). If you have a staged boost
library (still not installed) please specify $BOOST_ROOT in your
environment and do not give a PATH to --with-boost option. If you are sure
you have boost installed, then check your version number looking in
<boost/version.hpp>. See http://randspringer.de/boost for more
documentation.
  no
configure: error: Boost 1.50.0 or later was not found and is required to
build GnuCash

during configure. I have boost-1.53.0-14 installed on both systems. Does
anyone know what I need to do to get gnucash to build?

Thanks,

Alex
