Welcome!

I just want to point out one correction, which is that "qof development"
is *moving* to C++..  It is not currency in C++, it is in C.  However,
if you know C++ you probably know C, so it should be pretty easy to work
from there.

As for where to start:  find your itch and scratch!  :)
