I added this when I added the feature for using action field for the
number. The reason is that if the user wants to use this feature, he better
select it before importing initial data, which I believe is later in the
process, or all his/her data will be imported incorrectly and the only way
to change it is to start all over again. Setting this feature makes gnucash
act like quicken in this regard and I believe many new users convert from
gnucash. I added documentation about this when I added the feature; please
read that documentation!
It is important that this option be considered in initial file set up and
it is not intended that it should be changed afterwards as explained in the
