patch for gcc 3.3 compile warnings, pricedb

Ok, I applied this patch, but the price-db changes didn't go into 1.8
so I left that out (probably because your OTHER price-db changes
didn't go into the 1.8 branch, either ;)

It's all in the CVS HEAD, however.
