OK, you are the master of the patches ;-)

I want to fix the reports for the case when you have stocks or funds that
are denominated in a currency which is not the report currency. I need
the xxx_any_currency lookup functionality for this. If you know a better
solution for this problem, I'm open to suggestions.

I'll try to create a generic commodity conversion so that we can change
the underlying pricedb lookup afterwards without breaking other things.
