mkinstalldirs changes massively as soon as I start the first build of any 
newly checkedout or exported GnuCash tree.
-rwxr-xr-x  649 2000-01-10 03:32 /opt/forge/gnome2/mkinstalldirs
-rwxr-xr-x  1988 2005-04-25 12:24 /opt/working/gnucash-gnome2/mkinstalldirs

It has always done so on this system - to the point now where I have it in 
~/.cvsignore and set makepatch to ignore it too.

Debian unstable: I have lots installed, G2 outputs:
Running aclocal-1.7  -I macros
Running automake-1.7 --gnu  

automake-1.7 is v1.7.9-7
