It's been rumoured that Meer van Houtum, P.G. van der said:

The qt here refers to 'quick threads', which is normally a part of
guile.  It has nothing to do with kde-qt.

actually, you will want to rm config.cache and then ./autogen.sh 
in the gnucash dir; otherwise, you configure will remember the old
libraries/commands.
