For what it's worth, LyX uses a $HOME/.lyx/lyxrc file where you can define a 
keybinding file to point at so the app uses those bindings. Since GnuCash is 
written mostly in scheme/guile it should be pretty easy to set up an eval'able 
keybindings file, no?  This way the user, if they want to customize the
bindings, they simply edit one file.
