Special characters in version 1.6

Hello.

Is version 1.6 allegic to special characters? The reason I ask is that
when I started using 1.6, I would eventually start receiving segfaults
every time I went to open an account (any account, not just the ones
with special characters). I tried starting over and removing « é » from
one of the account names and I haven't had any trouble since. Have I
really located the problem? Or have I removed the accents for no good
reason?
