Hmm. It should.
Note that there is a 'description' and a 'memo'.  The description is
common for all splits in that transaction (and is what is displayed in
one-line mode).   The memo is unique to each split.  If you type a memo
for a split in one register, you won't see it in another register
(depending on which split is involved).   To see the memo,
you need to be in two-line mode.   To see all memos, you need to be in
ledger mode.
