Importing Qif files with ScripIssues

Hi, I've been interested in getting into Gnucash for a few months, and now
I'm on Mandrake 8.1 I'm able to run the latest 1.6.x version of Gnucash which
looks pretty good.
Like many Gnucash Newbies I need to import my existing records from Quicken.
When I tried it I got several warning messages informing me that Gnucash did
not recognise Transactions of type ScripIssue (Stock splits) or RtnCapital
Now since I'm in the UK it occurred to me that Quicken in the US might have
different names for these actions which might be supported by Gnucash. If so
I could simply edit my QIF files before importing them.
(Or else those transaction types simply have not made it into Gnucash yet :-)
So does anyone know if Gnucash supports ScripIssue under another name?
Another small thing I noticed in the import Druid was that it very kindly
recognised that we do not all live in the US and suggested checking the date
format of the records, but then the drop down menu did not offer a date
style in UK format (dd-mm-yy) Although strangely it did not seem to matter
because the imported records seemed to be recorded with the correct format.
TIA
Derek
