Feature suggestion: bulk deletion of transactions

Hi,

I've seen a couple of requests for copying the account set to a new file
without transactions, so that one can start a new year.

Personally, I don't like to break my accounting into years, but prefer to
keep the last 12 months available. So at any point in time, transactions
going back as far back as (say) 12 months would be available.

So, how about a facility for bulk deleting all transactions in all
accounts before a certain date, and simply replacing them all with
"Carrier over" balances? This would address both my preference for just
zapping old transactions without starting a new set of account, while also
working nicely for people who want to start a new year: you'd simply copy
your account set file to a new year and delete the previous year's
transactions from it, leaving you with the correct set up accounts with
opening balances already in them.

Perhaps one could optionally have such a deletion fail if it finds any
non-reconciled transactions within the period to be deleted. It may also
be helpful to delete transactions from a specified date onwards, in case
someone e.g. needs to split a file into more than one file covered
sub-periods.

Comments?
