I got it working yesterday, finally, with the help of the
db1 pointers. If you rpm -ba gnucash.spec and watch the
errors, you should be able to compile it at the end. It
can take some time though; on my stock RH 7.3b workstation
(+ some RH 7.3 updates) I had to add some 15 - 20 packages
including the dependencies of the dependencies.

It's in your mail. Look for the *-devel ones. If you want
to try my rpms, you can fetch them from
http://www.provocation.net/gnucash-1.6.6-1.i386.rpm
http://www.provocation.net/gnucash-1.6.6-1.src.rpm
Pay attention though, I compiled them without postgresql.
