account types ?

hi,

I know that different account has different meaning (i read the docs), but what exactly is the purpose of them I mean does they change how the transaction are calculated ? or something else ?
What if I create Cash-account under Expenses ? or Bank account in Income ? ...etc...  or something similar...
See i know that Cash mean money at hand ... i want to know how the calculation depend on them...
