Install 1.6.8 on SuSE 8.1

Hi,

I downloaded gnucash1.6.8.tar.gz and didn't manage to install it.

I'm using SuSE Linux 8.1 (new to it as well). On my second attempt, I 
downloaded the ...gz as user "Stefan", saved it in my home directory and 
expanded in a subdirectory called "gnucash1.6.8".  I switched from KDE 
3.0.4 to Gnome (which is a 2.xx version AFAIK) before doing so!
Then I changed into the appropriate subdirectory and tried to execute 
"install.sh". I was asked whether I wanted to execute "install.sh" in a 
terminal windows or else - alas, there was no difference in getting no 
result at all when executing.
That means, I can start "install.sh" but nothing happens.

Unfortunately, the help files for gnome 2.xx are missing completely in 
SuSE 8.1. Does someone know why?
