compilation problems

Well, what version of Guppi (and Guppi-devel) do you have
installed???

This would imply you do not have Guppi installed.

Try installing Guppi (and its associated -devel package).  Or try compiling
Guppi by hand into something like /opt/Guppi-0.40.3 ...
