Any tools to hack the XML file?

I am changing my accounts around to a new set because when I first started
using gnucash I did it in a very lame way with every transaction going
to/from a "misc" account.  It seems the only way to move all of my old
data to the new accounts is by hacking the XML file.  I can do it myself
using shell/perl, but I am wondering if there are any existing tools
to help hack at the XML file?
