Trouble with libguile.so.6 while installing

Ok, I'm still having this problem.  I can't seem to get any relief.  If 
someone can point me the right way I would be utmost gratiful.

SuSE 8.0 Pro,  trying to install 1.7.8 from rpm


rpm reports deps libguile.so.6

so

I goto  gnu.org and grab   1.3.4,  1.4 and 1.4.1


They all run ./configure find however  1.3.4 and 1.4 die during make. 
1.4.1 is installed now I have a libguile.so.10.

Anyway the rpm still complains so I'm assuming that 1.3.4 is needed.

After successful configure (I think), When I make either 1.3.4 or 1.4 I 
receive the following

Can anyone help.  I'm not sure how to proceed.
