does gnucash really install?!?!!?!

Only libxml2.  I just dug around and found and old libxml 1.8 and finally got 
the thing to compile.  Thanks for the suggestion.  Now I get some *(%#&%# 
error when I try to run the thing.  I would post the error, but by now I am 
so fed up with gnucash that I have decided to cut my losses and try to forget 
that I ever heard about it in the first place : ).
