You should realize that Gnucash is a GNOME 1.4 app, not a GNOME 2.0
app. If you have a pure GNOME 2.0 desktop, then Gnucash will not work,
most likely. This is documented in the README:
############
Dependencies
------------
The following packages are required to be installed to run GnuCash:
Gnome 1.4: see www.gnome.org for more information.
There is currently 1 person working on the GNOME 2.0 port efforts.
You're welcome to join, or at least try to get it working on a pure
GNOME 2.0 system. Your efforts and experiences would be well-received
and appreciated.
Whatever your decision, good luck.
