Thanks Bill and Linas for your responses.  The plural RPM's that I referred 
to were the seemingly endless succession of RPM's that I hunted down when 
the gnucash RPM prompted me for various libraries.  That was when I tried to 
install gnucash from RPM's on a RH 7.3 system.  I suppose it is time for a 
fresh attempt now that I have RH 8.0 installed.
