This is their trademark ;)
The never ending story at Mickeysoft of incompatible file formats and
programs has been one of the main reasons I decided to go for Linux 3 years
ago.
For example do not try to install Office 97 and Office 2000 on the same
machine.
If you do so, as I did to support clients with different versions of
Access, you end up re-instaling the operating system, in this case Windows
2000.
Believe it or not but that was the only way to get Access 2000 working
again.
It simply refused to start up due to a licensing error: arghhh...
At last I had a separate box for each version of Windows and Office,
because none of them were compatible or could live on the same box.
One more story, I can fill a book with this sort of stories.
I made a setup of MS Access on a Windows 98 box of MS Access 2.0.
Tested it: worked fine.
Went to a client and installed it on a Windows 3.11 box.
Installation went flawless, but from that moment they could only run MS
Access 2.0 :(
No warning , no message, nothing !
I can now laugh about it, but it was not funny then I can tell you.
