Freeze or loop opening file

I'm running gnucash 1.8.2 on Mac OS X 10.2. I've been using gnucash for
about a month and a half.

When I launch, the account window comes up, but it is just gray where
accounts should be listed. The recurring transactions also comes up,
but it is also gray. It's frozen at that point and nothing else will
work except for a force quit.

The log file looks likes it looping on the TiVo repeating transaction
for June 7. I've included a sample in the quoted text below. The last
time I opened gnucash successfully was June 6. Is there a way to bypass
repeating transactions while starting gnucash?
