Freeze or loop opening file

Run gnucash --nofile, edit your preferences to turn off autoposting
of scheduled transactions, exit gnucash, then re-run gnucash without
the --nofile option.

Scheduled Transactions are majorly broken.

PS: you should also upgrade to 1.8.4.
